I am 24 now, but for two years of my life, my world revolved around a friend who became something much more. When we first agreed to be in a relationship, everything felt possible. But as time went on, the heavy reality of the real world began to creep in. She started warning me about her father—how strict he was, and how he envisioned her marrying only someone wealthy and established. Soon, the arranged marriage proposals started coming. The pressure was mounting, and she told me it was time to speak to my parents. I was ready to do it, but I told her the truth: I will stand up to my family, but you have to stand up to yours, too. We have to do this together. But as the proposals kept knocking on her door, I felt her pulling away. It became clear to me that she wasn't fully invested in fighting for us. Out of a mixture of hurt, exhaustion, and pride, I finally told her, "What am I supposed to do? If you like him, just go for it." Not long after, we said our final goodbyes. The silence that followed was deafening, and even now, she crosses my mind every single day. Lately, the silence has just been filled with doubts. Was I wrong to say what I did? Did I hurt her when she needed me to hold on tighter, or did I just finally see the truth? She ended up getting engaged to a guy who isn't remarkably talented or accomplished, but his family has the kind of financial security and status her father demanded. I'm left with the bitter realization that, in the end, I was traded for a strong family background—and the lingering ache of wondering if I could have done things differently.

Love is blind

That was her plan all along. She knew what she was doing and what her future holds. You were too blind in love to see the real picture. Boys needs to be more mature when dealing with girls. Apna kaam nikaalo or aage badho. Don't cry for anybody.
