26M. I joined an MNC in Hyderabad just a month ago and moved from Kolkata for this job. While the role and company are good, I'm finding it much harder than expected to stay away from home. I come from a close-knit family, and being away from them is affecting me emotionally. Every day I feel a stronger urge to return to Kolkata. Unfortunately, my current project exists only in Hyderabad, so an internal transfer isn't an option. I've been applying for Kolkata-based and remote roles through job portals, but I'm barely getting any calls. Since I've joined only a month ago, I'm also worried that switching immediately might look bad on my resume. For people who have successfully relocated back to their hometown after joining a job in another city, what practical steps did you take? Which job portals, networking strategies, consultancies, referrals, or approaches worked for you? How can I improve my chances of finding a Kolkata opportunity as quickly as possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Feeling quite torn between my career and my need to be closer to family.

slowly u will get adapted when I moved from kol to hyd initially I felt same horrible food plus no family but wid time I get accustomed to hyd. Hyd is a good city now even I miss kolkata but truth is that there is lot of office politics in kolkata and everyone wants to give bamboo to each other but comparatively hyd is much better. My telugu friends r much more helpful than fellow Bengalis

I am born and brought up in Hyderabad. With luck settled in hyderabad itself working for MNC. I feel you as I see lot of young people who leave the family and stay in hyderabad for work. - its only one month so give sometime for yourself - once you become busy with work you will wait for sat/sun for just sleeping or be a couch potato. - you will soon find friend circle and do trips and become engaged - there is a Bengali cultural club try to become a member in that, they do lot of cultural events and social service. It will be like an extended family - be a foodie enjoy hyderabad food, i can join you too 😆 - if possible get yourself a good bike or car, do short solo trips when possible, you see yourself relieved. - many firms offer a two week or year end shutdown etc do WFH from Kolkata enjoy your time at home. - lastly work is a mandate for guys, so as money so dont take any hasty decisions in terms on changing jobs.

If you want a career, forget about Kolkata. Look for Hyderabad and Bangalore based companies. Emotional outbursts has no place in the industry. You either make a career or indulge in gossips and back biting with hardly any meaningful work (Kolkata). The work culture in Kolkata is Vile and I would never go back, till I retire.
