My wife stopped speaking to me after I took our daughter

I am a 32-year-old man. I got married in 2023. At the time of our marriage, there was a small argument between our families. After our marriage, my wife became very concerned about criticizing my family for every mistake or disagreement. Gradually, this became a daily source of arguments between us. On my birthday, which was the first birthday I was celebrating with my wife after our marriage, she started criticizing me and arguing with me. Because of her anger, the birthday celebration was completely spoiled. She often blamed my mother and said that my mother spoke badly about her family. At that time, we were living on the ground floor, while my parents were living on the first floor. About a month after our marriage, my father was hospitalized. During that difficult period, I felt that I received no support from my wife. She went to her parents' house, leaving me to handle the situation alone. After some days, my father passed away. My wife returned for the funeral and stayed with me at my house for three days. However, after an argument with my sister, she left the house and went to the police station, where she made a complaint against my family, including allegations related to dowry. She frequently said that I always supported my mother and sisters instead of supporting her. I invited her family to attend the 16th-day ceremony for my father, but no one from her family attended. After a few days, my wife came to my house along with her parents and other relatives. They came saying that she wanted to live with me, but the situation again turned into arguments. At that time, my wife was pregnant. During her pregnancy, I was also dealing with many difficulties. I admit that I did not attend her regular pregnancy check-ups as I should have. After some time, I went to her parents' house, brought her back, and moved with her to a new rented house. We started living separately from both our families. During the pregnancy, things were relatively peaceful for some time, and we lived happily together. However, my wife continued to criticize and argue with me over many things. At one point, my mother was injured, and I had to take care of her. Because of the situation, I left my wife at her parents' house for some time. She eventually gave birth to our daughter there. I went to the hospital for the delivery, and everything went well. We were blessed with a baby girl. After the birth of our daughter, there was a pooja ceremony. However, her family did not invite me to the function. Because of the situation between our families, I also did not invite her family to our daughter's naming ceremony, birthday function, or ear-piercing ceremony. Years passed, and recently, my wife and I had another small argument. We had gone to a temple together in our car. After the argument, I dropped her near her parents' house because she was going to work and her parents were taking care of our daughter. After I dropped her there, she left some of my belongings in the car and told me to take care of our daughter as well. Since she had left our daughter there and I was returning from her parents' house, I decided to take our daughter with me and bring her home. After I took our daughter home, my wife repeatedly called me and asked why I had taken our daughter. She said that she needed her daughter and did not want me to take her. She then told me to come home so that she could take our daughter back. She also said that she did not want to live with me anymore. She continues to say that my mother and sister are the main reasons for the problems in our marriage. I feel that she frequently criticizes me and my family, and this has caused repeated arguments between us over the years. Since I brought our daughter home, my wife has not contacted me again. There has been no call or communication from her until now. I love my wife and my daughter, but I feel emotionally hurt by the way our relationship has developed. I also feel that my wife has a lot of anger and resentment toward my family and me. At the same time, I understand that there have been mistakes and hurtful experiences on both sides. I am now confused and deeply worried about our future. I want to understand whether our marriage can still be repaired, what is best for our daughter, and what I should do next.

I don't understand as to why u have to bring ur child to ur house . A child needs both the parents care and love. U must try to understand ur wife's problem. Sometimes we don't try to understand the problem or situation of our partner . Once u r married u must prioritise ur partner. Keep ur mother and sisters out of ur day to day problems. U keep visiting them . U r a responsible father who must sit down n talk with ur wife. Don't deprive the child of mother's love

If you want your wife, be calm, talk with her what is her problem, not simply mother and sister because you both are living separately. Tell what you are expecting from her like being a family and living happily. if she doesn't agree after all this, simply say sorry. Tell your mother and sister also in a polite way to not involve in every matter.

Abandoning one's parents is the ultimate wrong....gender irrespective. One must learn to balance and to accept balance. There is usually enough for everyone's need, but not for everyone's greed.

Without mentioning any background reason for disputes, simply blame gaming your wife as if you are saint. At 32, if you cannot prioritize your family, meaning your wife and kids.... not your amma and Akka., you are an incompetent man. Keep your parents off limits first. Ask your wife what to do so both of you can have a common ground to meet. If she insists on separation, be prepared. Don't know when all these adult boys will grow up.

First things first. Things that happen at weddings and how groom's side behave hurts bride more than you think. She never got closure for what was done. One after the other things are causing the issue to grow rather than reduce it. While reading it looks like the issue is from both. No one is ready to compromise. If your ego plays such a big role in this marriage it's better to take divorce. Staying together with so much ego will hurt your child. Both of you end up fighting regularly the child faces the consequences. It's better to stay away and give the child a better experience. One thing I want to reiterate it's your wife who gave birth to your child. Not you. So respect her for that. I am not saying what she did or reacted to was correct. Start respecting her for your child. Lower your ego then go for marriage counseling where even she will be taught how to behave or deal with things. Then you can dream of a family. If not better divorce for the sake of your child.

How can you even expect your wife to respect the people who didn't give her the respect she deserved. No girls get married to be humiliated by inlaws. It's Tit for Tat. So life long you have to hear because when you didn't ask your parents to keep mum when they showered abusive words on her or her family. You have your responsibility towards your mom so do it without her support. Pls keep your mother sister nd family members out of your personal life. Stay seperately..both of you take care of your child.

The relationship is done and dusted. Whoever fault it might be. Move on. Having a kid after all these, is the biggest blunder.

When mistakes are ok both side and your wife is always the one triggering it then problem is not with you... let her realise and come back, you dont give up your self respect any further as she is seriously causing trouble to you and your family... if you are going to convince her and make her come back again she is going to do more worse things only... just see what she does and if in case she send any legal notice also handle it legally and make sure she is caught with proof for all mental torture she did to you and your family

Such a hypocrite!!! You lost your one sided story when you mentioned “I admit that I did not attend her regular pregnancy check-ups as I should have”. That line explains everything!! -Hope she finds someone better!!!!

"my wife is the biggest villain She's not cooperating to my family's torture. I don't give a fvk about my wife and she can go and fvk herself. But I'm innocent in all this." 🤡

Your life is gone buddy … you can’t leave ur wife because you have a gal baby and you will emotionally get attached and can’t leave the little one with ur wife .. you are going to live the miserable life

Anonymous14 August 2026 at 10:47 pm

Hope she divorces you and sucks every dime off of you. Most Indian men lack emotional maturity mostly because they are raised by narcissistic parents. They cannot see their own flaws and hence cannot be fixed. They love being the victim in every problem they create. Sadly they go ahead and ruin other people lives. Wish your wife and daughter very best in life, please go back to your mother and don’t marry again.

Sorry bruh, gave up in between ur wife-family rant. All can I say is should have decided before having a child if ur relation with ur wife was not good. Don't know how come u guys even had a child with so much circus.

Leave ur daughter with ur wife, u have fked up the marriage enough. File for divorce and live happily a single life where u can do all ur bakjodhi
