An old career mistake is blocking me from helping my family

25M – Need sincere career advice regarding employment verification from Seniors and HR professionals Hello Admin, please post this. I’m 25 years old and the younger son in my family. I come from a below-middle-class background and have significant family responsibilities, including debts incurred for my two elder sisters’ marriages. I have around 3 years of experience in the non-IT field and am currently working in a startup. After completing my Diploma in 2019, I joined an organization and worked there for around 10 months. Unfortunately, I had to leave the organization without serving the notice period because my mother suffered a serious health issue, and I had to take care of her. Once things became stable, I resumed my studies and completed my B.Tech. I then joined my current organization, where I have been working for the past 3 years. I have worked hard, gained good experience and developed strong knowledge in my field. However, my current salary is low, so I am now looking for a job change to improve my financial situation, clear my family’s debts and take greater responsibility for my family. Recently, while going through the interview and background verification process, I came across an issue with my previous organization from 2019. My EPFO service history shows around 18 months of employment with that organization, whereas I actually worked there for only about 10 months. Because of this discrepancy, my prospective employers are asking me to provide a relieving letter and experience certificate from that organization. Unfortunately, since I left without serving the notice period, my previous employer is not willing to provide these documents. I have already: - Contacted my previous employer multiple times to explain the situation. And Requested them to provide employment certificate. - Offered to compensate for the notice period. - Tried to delink the previous employment from my EPFO service history, but I have not been able to do so. - Attended several interviews, but I am facing rejection during the background verification stage because of this issue. Since most companies now conduct strict background verification, I’m worried that this old issue may continue affecting my career despite having 3 years of genuine experience in my current organization. I sincerely request advice from experienced HR professionals, seniors, or anyone who has faced a similar situation. 1. How can get employment certificate/ releaving letters from previous organisation? 2. How should I explain this situation during background verification? 3. Is there any way to resolve the issue through EPFO or another official channel? 4. Has anyone successfully overcome a similar BGV issue, and if so, what approach worked for you? I am willing to take responsibility for my past mistake and provide any genuine documentation required. I just want an opportunity to move forward in my career and support my family. Looking for sincere guidance from seniors and HR professionals who have practical experience with such cases.

It's better engage a third party to intercede and handle at your behest.....it could even be a lawyer or a retd HR or even a Retd Senior Corporate personnel. Who can meet the HR of your impugned Ex-Orgn or even legally threaten them. One lawyers notice to them wil do miracles (without costing you much). Or file a case in court , organisations get intimidated when drawn into legal intricacies and wil usually settle easily thereby.
