So I met a guy on a dating app. In the beginning, everything was really good. We used to talk every day—good morning, good night, very fast replies, everything was sweet. But somewhere in my heart, I knew that maybe it wasn't going to stay the way it looked. But, dil toh bachcha hai ji. Everything was going really well, and after four months of talking, I shifted to X because of him, as he was staying in Y. I don't know, I just really wanted to meet him. So we planned a trip to Y. Before the trip, it was his birthday. I couldn't be there with him on his actual birthday, so I planned seven different gifts for him. The first was a watch worth around ₹3,000. I also booked a room for him in Y, with decorations and everything. The second gift was a book because he liked reading. Then there were Crocs, a keychain, a T-shirt, and a few other things. I had planned the whole birthday experience with so much excitement. Then I went to Y, and we finally met. I stayed there for two days, but initially he couldn't come because his family was strict. Eventually, he got a chance when his family went to Mumbai, so he came to the place I had decorated for him. We stayed there, went around Y, spent time together, and then I came back. But after I came back, nothing really changed. The behaviour was still the same. And within a week, he completely ghosted me. He stopped calling, stopped texting, and basically disappeared. I don't care about the money I spent. I don't care about the time or the effort I put in because I know I gave 100% from my side. I genuinely tried. I made the effort to meet him, planned his birthday, bought him gifts, travelled for him, and gave him my time and attention. Now, I don't know why he ghosted me. I don't know if he has a girlfriend, if something else was going on, or if he simply lost interest. And honestly, I may never know because he doesn't even have the courage to communicate it properly. It did hurt me for two or three days. But now I'm okay. And when I look back at everything, I don't think I did anything wrong by caring about someone. I was genuine. I made the effort. I showed up. I gave what I could. Maybe the mistake wasn't that I cared too much. Maybe the mistake was giving someone so much before they had actually shown me that they deserved it. So this is just my little confession: don't confuse someone's sweet words and constant attention with genuine commitment. Let their actions over time prove who they really are. And if someone chooses to ghost you instead of communicating, let them go. Their inability to communicate is their problem—not proof that there was something wrong with you.
This situation highlights the vulnerability of escalating a relationship's stakes—relocating to a new city and coordinating an elaborate, multi-gift birthday trip—before establishing a foundation in physical reality. When digital intimacy feels intense, it is easy to assume a mutual level of readiness. Here, the writer invested heavily in a future, while the other party remained constrained by immediate realities, like strict family supervision, and ultimately lacked the capacity to match that scale of commitment.
The core tension lies in the mismatch between high-effort gestures and unverified compatibility. While buying seven tailored gifts and traveling represents an admirable capacity to care, it also created an unsustainable dynamic where one person was fully integrated into a shared vision while the other was still testing the waters. When the physical meeting ended, the sudden withdrawal of communication exposed how fragile a digital-first connection can be when the burden of effort is heavily one-sided.

It's sad... Girls are planning grand gestures.... for a guy whom they are going to meet for the first time.... they don't even know if he is real or fake or married or some old uncle.... --- Just meet in some public place for a coffee or snacks, during day time and from where you can go back to own place easily using own vehicle/public transport.
U r richer by an experience lady..kudos!!!... Also let me be the first person to share a man trivia wid u - Men tend to run when things get serious.. In today's world men no more are chivalrous as presented in age old folklore. They ignore, they avoid, they stall, they cry victim, naive- pose, they block, they ghost..aur fir jab sara raita fael gaya ho to they finally runnnn😆😆😆😆
U did too much, too early... I guess that was ur first meeting... Doing so much in first meet give the feeling of "chipku" which nobody wants.. (my pov)..
Point is he didn’t like you but couldn’t say it directly on your face. And it’s okay. Not all people have that courage. Imagine if it was the other way round. Suppose you didn’t like him. How you would have reacted? Did you have the courage to tell him?
You did too much too soon without knowing him properly. Maybe he felt overwhelmed because he wasn’t ready for a relationship yet. Next time, before showering someone with gifts, pause and make sure you’re both on the same page.
Person like you are rare nowadays. Emotions and feelings from your side were real but the other person was either looking for something else or wasnt interested much in you. Leave it. Lots of nice people are there around connect with them. Actually true love or care doesnt get respected or identified properly. Those who yearn for such person dont get and those who get dont value it.
It's his loss. You forget him and move on.
First things first—NEVER TRUST anyone from a DATING APP. Be it a girl or a boy, it doesn’t matter. Those platforms are mostly just for timepass. You can spend good time together, but you can’t fall in love so easily. Yes, there might be exceptions, but everyone isn’t that lucky. So please don’t fall in love so easily. saying this from personal experience. May you find genuine love someday 🫰🏻
Next time make the progression little slow. If he is someone like me, may be he is terrified by your overflowing love and after sometime he may come back.
You did nothing wrong. Loving deeply isn't a mistake. The mistake was his - to take so much and give zero clarity. Ghosting is a reflection of his cowardice, not your worth. Proud of you for healing and for seeing it clearly now 🤍
You are trying really hard because u really want him whether he may not find you that much interesting.....also there may be some things he felt behind the scenes like you keeping a tab like seven gifts, amount of money you spend.... Love doesn't work that way but might be a conscious relationship does, if he is a good man....... Otherwise maybe he's just a f*ckboy 😅
I think he ssint find you good enough
Sorry that this happened to u.
Why the people can't stay happy with himself/herself! I don't know why they find happiness outside in other people
Men who can't take responsibility of their emotions and prefer avoidance - avoid them totally. Lucky that one date was enough than more.
Strange times.
Caring was never your mistake. ❤️ You were genuine and gave your best. His ghosting reflects his character, not your worth. Sometimes silence is the closure we need. Move on—you deserve someone who matches your effort. 🌸
You know what mistakes you made. Learn and move on. 😇💫
