My mom cannot accept that times have changed since the nineties

I need to vent a bit and would really appreciate some advice. Yesterday, my mom and I got into a verbal argument during a family celebration over a disagreement. The core issue is that her mindset feels stuck in the '90s. She refuses to accept that times have changed, and she constantly pressures me to conform to her way of doing things, whereas I want to live life on my own terms. Don't get me wrong—I deeply respect her. She struggled, sacrificed, and saved every penny to give us a good education. But her mindset hasn't evolved with our current reality. I’m earning well now and want to enjoy the life I’ve built, but her traditional/frugal expectations keep causing friction between us. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? How do you set boundaries and handle this without damaging the relationship?

First: You’re not a bad child for feeling this way. She sacrificed so you could have choices. Now you’re making them. That’s the whole point. Maybe invite her into small parts of your "new life" so it feels less scary to her?
