My conservative fiancé wants me to stop working and stay traditional

I am 29 year old female already engaged just a month ego I was previously in 9 years relationship where he left me for earning money and financially used me till he become successful and once he did he left .. I was traumatized and after 5 years finally moving on with an arranged marriage .. my man is nice and gentle with me but but but conservative I have been asked not to work after marriage and have been asked if I know properly how to cook plus how to wear and stay traditional etc etc..i have no problem with the man at all but sometimes he speaks just like typical traditional man who can't even understand that a woman is leaving her education job home everything etc..it is tough for a working woman to suddenly being pennyless her whole life ahead..he just is behaving like in laws ..they have the age to behave in certain way but man whom I am marrying atleast should be understanding y m i concerned a bit.. Please write your review what should I do..

Don't marry someone who doesn't respect you and your independence and goals. Just call it off and definitely you will find someone where you both can create a great partnership and enjoy your life together by supporting each other.

Work. Choose a man who lets you work. I have a sister. She earns pretty well and everybody loves how successful she has become. So work. Your money will be the only thing which will help you in future if anything goes wrong with your man. Making money and having a career is everyone’s constitutional right. So don’t settle for what you don’t want

Never leave your work for marriage ...initially it may sound fancy but after sometime you will start feeling the void and the identity loss...So better find another person as it is an arranged marriage set up..

Don't marry. He will get a better option than you. Just say no.

It's ultimately about your own preferences. Some women genuinely prefer a purely traditional role and others don't. Just keep in mind that you're leaving more than just your job and family. Decision-making, financial planning, future plans and decisions about children would also largely be in his hands. And these sacrifices you're making may not be valued or considered in the way you're hoping they will be. He was brought up that way and holds old-school patriarchal values. You can't change him and you shouldn't want to either. It doesn't work that way. So think carefully about what you want your future to look like and choose accordingly.

If being independent is important then don't marry. Decline the match, both will get partners again, Bharat has progressed...?

Anonymous12 August 2026 at 10:34 am

You will be making the biggest mistake of if your life if you marry him.

Anonymous10 August 2026 at 7:04 am

Dont Marry him eventhough he is caring. That caring will also go away after marriage. Its all an act to control you

Don't make the mistake of being jobless post marriage. A marital relationship is not with a guarantee for permanence however much we may wish it to be and however much you both may love each other. A lot of other factors may play a role in the relationship apart from love and companionship. if you are without your own money you will be in a precarious situation especially in a new home. Listen to yourself first. Stabilise your career and marry someone who values your career as well as you.

The advantage of arranged marriage is that you can choose your man by ticking boxes. I shall still appreciate him as he had set his conditions right in the first place. He wants someone to stay at home wife, traditional..that's his way of box ticking .That doesn't make him wrong. If you can match accordingly, go ahead or just leave. Go for someone who matches your demands. There are plenty of men who actually want to have modern working women as their wives. Why did you get engaged with him in the first place???

Be careful. Work is a blessing. Someone who has worked so many years goes into depression sitting idle. It's not easy nowadays to ask someone for money on every petty matter. That's a tactic to control.

Please don't leave your job iam begging you. My mother did the same and he left her penniless and on the verge of homelessness when he died. And be careful of conservative men and please do through research before you jump the gun

So why this conservative man, family didn't search match of less educated, non earning woman for marriage? Why search well educated, earning woman and then CONVERT her to be a housewife?

Anonymous11 August 2026 at 9:50 am

How can man be nice. It's impossible to think that way. He is immatured red flag not worth the time .why should he control your life. What world is he leaving he thinks marrying u making huge favour. I would advice u not marry today job tomorrow something else such controlling freak not good this day and age .earning gives u security if something goes wrong unless u are rich can do without anything not depending on husband. Be careful choice yours though

If job and his expectations of taking care of the household is bothering you so much, why don't u simply just call off the marriage? What still makes u consider that man? Find someone better like ur ex

Anonymous User9 August 2026 at 6:31 pm

Madam, working or not working may be one of the minor things to work out and reach a compromise. Bigger question is : have you told him about your history? Is he fine with that? You mentioned that is is conservative. Typical conservative man would expect the future partner to be honest and with no past.

Anonymous12 August 2026 at 3:35 am

There is nothing to write. You a typical laxy and talk more person....better face life and live life and that includes facing the risks and unpredictability that life is....

Anonymous10 August 2026 at 6:16 pm

Dont go ahead with this

Anonymous9 August 2026 at 10:39 pm

I dont understand how u say therz no problem that u see in him! Jus imagine having a daughter with him! If that feels like a breeze life, go ahead. If not run away fast! If sm1 cant respect an individual’s choices fr life, they are not worthy of even holding friendship.. forget life long commitment! Its so basic.. and u say u see nothing wrong🤷🏽‍♀️looks like ur trauma made u settle fr nonsense!
