My old boss humiliated me and now they want me back
Hi. 37 F married with no kids. Wanna share regarding my past job. I completed professional course and joined a big company in Tamilnadu and worked there for five years. I worked as an Assistant Executive and had three senior Top persons to report. During my fourth year, MD of that company called me and asked to do tough task what my senior would do that I was not expert since senior was on leave for 10 days due to emergency. As due date was near, I called senior to help regarding this. He shouted in phone and asked to do by myself. After getting help from my professional friends outside, I did it on my own. MD appreciated me and asked to do certificate course which is costly so that he would promote me to higher position. He also ready to sponsor amount for that course, I politely denied. With my own amount, I completed that course successfully and returned to office. At that time, MD was ill and his son took charge temporily. I thanked him and his son for their help. His son called me and said that he would promote me to higher position and gave more complicated tasks. I completed all tasks within timeline by working late in office. Two months passed, no promotion was given. On day, my nearby collegue called me and said that MD son selected a new appointee person from his caste and appointed her as VP with 4 times of salary and said that she is fresher and 2 years younger than me. I asked my seniors regarding this and they said that it was management decision and asked to work. I calmly gave my resignation letter and MD son called me and asked y to resign and said to continue work as I had no kids so lower salary was enough. I politely said that you said for promotion. He laughed and said that I was not competent to promotion role and I am from middle class and lower caste. I said thank you and asked to relive. He said that I came office by bus which was not good to sit in that position. He asked to work notice period for 4 months instead of two months. I did all works calmly for 4 months and new joinee joined after 4 months. I smoothly handed over all. His son humiliated me that I was incapable of that higher position. I then joined new startup company in other district and now working for 2 years with reasonable salary. Yesterday old company senior head called me from new number and asked can u rejoin. I politely said no sir. He said that new joinee decided to leave and asked me to join. He said that we only helped to complete the certificate course. I denied that offer. He said that ego is siting in my head and I must obey them. I thankfully say him that I am unfit for that role and ended the call. Please say am I do any wrong? Am I ego minded? I am crying what they did to me earlier. Please suggest what to to.

You did the right thing, no need to go back to the place where you were insulted and not promoted even after delivering projects on time. Choose peace of mind rather than higher salary in a toxic environment. You should move on in your life as you aren't liable to them for anything.

You did right! Never ever rejoin the company you leave! Seems like your older companies work environment was toxic. Who talks about caste that too in a corporate world?

Promoted because of caste ?? Seriously does this happen in south of india ?? I’ve never heard such things in my life . Good you’ve joined a new company , never ever go there back again . It’s really disgusting to even know that these things exists
