Title: Got told my "attitude" wasn't a match after clearing 3 rounds over 4 days - still processing this one So this happened literally today and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Background: I'm a civil engineer with about 7-8 years in RCC site execution, applied for a QS/site role at a company through a recruiter, for a project out of state. The whole process took about 4 days and I cleared 3 rounds in that time. Round 2 was honestly where things started feeling off. I was on an MS Teams call and got kept waiting for a full hour, with the interviewer's mic and camera both off the entire time. No message, no explanation, nothing. Then right at the end they came on and said they had an urgent meeting come up and I'd need to redo that same round again later that evening. I obviously adjusted my schedule and did it again. Had round 3 (with senior HR) after that, and honestly the conversation went well. Technical questions, background discussion, all of it felt smooth. At the end they literally told me I've cleared that round and I'm through to the next stage. I was relieved because I've been job hunting for a while alongside my current job and this felt like a solid step forward, especially after everything with round 2. Fast forward to today - a junior HR calls and tells me they're not considering me anymore because my "attitude" wasn't a match. When I asked what they meant, it came down to the fact that I didn't say "sir" enough times while answering questions. I told them I understood and would be more careful about that going forward, but it didn't change anything. I get that formality and respect matter in interviews, and I'm not saying I did everything perfect. But this is the first time in years of interviewing that I've been rejected post-clearance over something like this, after 3 rounds and 4 days, rather than actual technical competency or experience. Feels like a big gap between what they said in the room (cleared, through to next round) and what happened after, especially after being the one who accommodated their reschedule mid-process. Not trying to bash the company, more just venting and also curious - has anyone else had something similar happen where the informal/verbal "you're through" doesn't actually mean anything until it's official? Starting to think I should stop taking those verbal confirmations seriously and just wait for actual written communication going forward. Anyway, back to prepping for the next interview I have lined up. Just needed to get this off my chest somewhere.

Would you really want to work in a place where you need to keep saying sir sir sir ??? Whatever happens, happens for good. Always remember that.
You are already in one of the worst paying sectors of india , the great civil engineering, also as a fellow civil engineer, i would advise you to go for a PG like MBA or Mtech to increase your value. A site engineer is rarely considered of any value to a company. And as far as your interview experience is considered , tbh it was never about the no of times you said sir , it was actually that they got someone at same role at less pay .
Wierd....in most tech interviews people usually call each other by first names, the concept of calling someone sir goes back to our colonial days when the British used to rule us, anyway no idea about the civil engineering sector, the culture there,the expectations, but in general this feels wierd
Don't give up and prepare better next time. You will definitely clear many more interviews and all the best.
Your attitude is not the problem they either got a better candidate or are not ok with your asking compensation
fcuk off such companies...dont ever feel bad for it...if they r really rejecting u for this reason say balls to them...u will get job in good company dont think of this one odd incident...make sure u write a review of the interview process in all professional social media like linkedin, glassdoor, ambitionbox etc
