He chose someone else while I was at my lowest

I was in a relationship for seven years. When we first got together, we weren't thinking about marriage. But as our relationship became more serious, I asked him one day, "What do you think our future looks like?" That was when he told me he would never marry me because he had always wanted to marry someone from his own faith. That conversation broke me, but I stayed. I believed that if the time ever came, I would at least have an honest conversation with my parents. I didn't know what their answer would have been, but I wanted to try. He, however, had already decided that there was no future for us. I respected that, painful as it was. Over time, we accepted that one day we would have to part ways. We would often talk about how difficult that day would be and promised that, even if we couldn't end up together, we would help each other through it. He knew I would probably have to marry sooner because I am the eldest daughter, while he still had time. Then one day, I found out that he had already started dating a girl from his own faith while he was still with me. The most confusing part was that, during the same time, he would tell me he was scared of losing me, cry in front of me, and reassure me that I meant everything to him. Then he asked me for ten days. He said he needed to figure out what the other girl wanted and that if she wanted something serious, he would have to move forward with her. Ten days later, he told me they had decided to get married. Soon after, he blocked me. This all happened during the worst phase of my life. I had been unemployed for two years, was struggling emotionally, and had lost touch with many friends. He knew all of it because he had been my closest person for seven years. In our last conversation, instead of acknowledging any of that, he blamed me. He said it was my fault that I had no friends, my fault that I wasn't studying properly, and my fault that I didn't have a job. It felt like seven years of love, friendship, and emotional dependence were erased in a matter of days. We spoke for hours every single day for seven years. We even lived together for a brief period. He knew how difficult it was for me to trust people, and he knew that once I trusted someone, I loved them with everything I had. I can accept that relationships end. What I still struggle to understand is how someone who knew you so deeply can leave you at your lowest, replace you so quickly, and make you feel as though your entire journey together never mattered. I'm trying to move on, but some days I still wonder whether I'll ever be able to trust someone again.

He showed you who he truly is when he said he doesn’t intend to marry you. You ignored the red flags because your feelings for him were genuine. Always put yourself first. Next time, if someone tells you “this is how I am,” believe them. Hope you heal soon .

"We spoke for hours everyday" =... "I couldn't study, have any friends, or keep a job" ... Do you see the relation hun?

He was already showing how big a red flag he was. A normal loving person can’t even hurt an animal once they get attached but he was sure to marry someone else to begin with. He wasn’t emotionally invested in you like you were. He was only using you for his loneliness. Accept it, forget him. He was never yours. Start fixing your life. Some day you’ll find someone who will love you for you. ❤️

They can because they are so called Human… this is human nature , being ungrateful , being selfish and self-centred is what most human beings have in them . Dont expect something this people can’t give you . As I believe and say- it’s far better to trust and love anything other than human. Rest learn to heal yourself coz if another human being comes for rescue , your wounds might become even worst .

Hey !! Bit personal but were you in a physical relationship with him. You have the answer, because you didn’t have job and no friends you started seeking whatever you got from him. But what is the relationship called where the guy is straightly saying he needs to marry of his faith and you and him kept on talking long for7 years. Run buddy, don’t feel anything ask the guy if he can take you to the marriage and then to family. If any but , will see, there is time - any such things come, treat him as a friend. Find a serious guy.

Always believe what men show you and tell you. Women have this notion that she can change the man which will never happen. He used you as you gladly let him even after he told you he will never marry you. Get therapy and move on. Just think this phase of your life is over.

Anonymous16 July 2026 at 6:06 pm

That’s absolutely nonsense, he was just using you and you like a fool , even after knowing that he’s doing so , kept your relationship with him . Now move on and focus on your career , you have a bigger responsibility towards your parents rather than that asshole
