Stuck between family expectations and my heart

Hello friends I am 26 year old girl working in corporate sector in Pune. I am lesbian I like girls but not interested in menfolk. I hv a gf she is working as sport teacher in reputed school of Pune. We hv been in relationship for last 2 years but my family does not know abt this. I am afraid to bring this fact to my mother as she is single mother she brought me and my sister after my father left us for another women. Recently a marriage proposal has come. The boy is very good and nice but I cannot marry him but my mother is sort of emotionally forcing me to accept this proposal. I asked the boy to refuse the proposal from his end but he says he cannot a go against his parents. pls tell what to do

Tell your mom the truth... Don't spoil boy's life by marrying him.

Tell your mother the truth. She herself didn't have 'good' experience from hetero marriage & husband. So ideally speaking she shouldn't force you into it.

Please be truthful atleast with the boy so that he can understand.

Speak the truth. Talk to your mother. Take your sister into confidence. What if this boy refuses? What about the next one? Also, tell the boy the real reason.

Share your preferences with your mom, And be prepared for the societal pressure balckmail she will do , that people will ask why the girl isnt marrief and all, Tell her wat you want to do and forcing will only spoil 2 peoples lives and the family attached with them, Be prepared of what kind of life you and your partner chose , cos your mom may keep asking .... and be transparent with her , Atleast she wnt say that you nevrr shared anything , Speak ! Speaking also involves listening , it resolves complications , and gives clairty ,

At least tell the boy all the truth. Pls don't spoil all the ppl's lives associated with this marriage including you, him, your mom & all his family members.

Tell your mom the truth in confidence and be prepared for the fallout. Remember! Nothing is worse than marrying someone against your orientation. Ultimately ends up ruining multiple homes. As for the guy... ask him to read about Ketan Aggarwal. If he still doesn't back off tell his parents openly that you think their boy is impotent and if they don't leave silently you'll have to share that with your family. [Incels in India need to learn to take a 'No' for a 'No. It's because of such behaviour in Men that even good men are suffering these days because women end up hiding.]

Tough situation. It's risky to tell that guy, he'd most likely tell his parents. Telling your mom is the right thing to do. But, I understand how difficult it can be for Indian parents to accept this. If you can't bring yourself to tell her and want to get married for your mom and society, a lavender marriage might be your best option.

U r top or bottom in les .... If bottom then marry him and if top then marry him in this situation too coz it's hurts if ur frnd will not marry u

Anonymous18 July 2026 at 3:36 pm

Tell your mom you will NEVER marry! At least cook up a story to convince her that u r afraid to get married & not comfortable to lose your financial & emotional liberty.

Speak up. Tell your mother.

Wt the!

The solution is v simple actually: just tell the buy & ask him to keep it confidential. He will run for his life. Solved Next try to fix quickly with your school teacher friend, start living together ie leave your house...soon! Then your mother will only hv one problem, your younger sister instead of two!
