From IT To Teaching: A Career Crossroads For Family Stability

Hi everyone, I need some genuine career advice. I am a QA Engineer, married, and blessed with a 1-year-old baby boy. I currently work for a product-based company in a work-from-home setup. My current CTC is ₹9 LPA. Honestly, everything is going well in my current job. I have a good work-life balance, supportive teammates, and a great manager. There is no major issue with my current company. However, I am constantly worried about my long-term career and job security, especially in the IT industry. Layoffs, rapid technological changes, and AI advancements make me wonder whether I'm making the right career choice. My educational qualifications are B.Sc. and M.Sc. I'm now considering taking admission into a 2-year B.Ed. course. After completing B.Ed., I would become eligible for teaching jobs in junior colleges or high schools. The catch is that securing a permanent teaching position may require spending around ₹30–40 lakhs (through legal recruitment process) the salary would be around ₹18,000 per month for the first 3 years, and later it could increase to ₹60,000–70,000+ per month. Now I'm confused. Should I continue growing in IT, where I'm already earning ₹9 LPA with a good work-life balance, or should I invest time and money into becoming a teacher for better long-term stability? As someone with family responsibilities, my biggest concern is ensuring a stable future. Has anyone here made a similar transition from IT to teaching? Or do you think staying in IT and continuously upskilling is the better option? I'd really appreciate honest advice and different perspectives. Thank you!

You don't need 30_40l for teaching and you can get in by merit very easily plus private integrated schools or academies are paying well between 80k_1.5l per month . You need to figure out if you want to be an educator or in the IT industry.
