#C27514 M 31 Recently switched from big 4 to a product based manufacturing firm in IT audit team. Joined in May and this week they announced a merger with another American firm. There is a wave of uncertainty in my mind now regarding layoffs, role change, culture change and team change. Now I am doubting my choice and timing of this switch. Request advise on how to deal with such anxiety as this is my new job after recent switch.

I am not an expert, but I believe with the merger you will have more secured position now with the new company atleast for next 2-3 years. Without this merger you may have uncertainty, but I believe now you have some clarity. Believe in yourself, you will be able to overcome the anxiety.

The switch was not required especially from Big 4. IT folks usually enjoy their time in Big 4s. Stable n billable.

Stop getting hyped about product based and service based. No one care unless you are working on building something in the company with real skin in the game.
