#C27242 Hi, M 26 Turning 27 soon and feeling completely stuck in life. Just wanted to vent and get some honest advice here because I don't know who else to ask. I’m a 2021 CSE graduate. Got placed and worked at Wipro for just over a year, but left the job to prepare for banking and government exams. My parents pushed for it, but honestly, my heart was somewhat in it too because I felt like it would give me a secure, stable job for years. But competitive exams are brutal, and I ended up failing. For the last 3 years, I’ve been living in limbo. In the middle of this mess, I tried getting back into tech—did a full-stack course, did a brief DevOps internship, and tried data analytics. But because I was constantly splitting my focus between keeping up with exam preparation for security and trying to stay in tech, I couldn't finish things properly. Now I'm stuck right in the middle. My parents are still pushing me to continue writing exams, but my brain is completely done. I desperately want to rejoin tech as a developer or take up any starting roles. But looking at my 3-year career gap and the brutal job market, I am terrified. Sometimes I feel like I have no knowledge left as it's been so long, and I need a major revision to get back. Be honest with me: considering my age (almost 27) and this 3-year gap, is a comeback actually possible? Can I still land a starting role if I put my head down, revise everything, and start applying? Or am I completely cooked? If anyone here has cleared a huge gap or has real advice on how to start over from scratch, please help me out in the comments. Thanks.

3 year gap would make you start as a lateral or fresher. Instead of focusing big companies currently, revise and polish your tech stack and try applying for start ups or new smaller companies. 1 year just slog and try to prove yourself in the environment and then transition towards the MNCs.

2 year gap I had. Started from scratch. It's tuff but not impossible
