#C27241 "I was born with a lazy eye in my left eye, which means I have had blurred vision in that eye my entire life. This condition cannot be corrected with glasses or lenses. My right eye has always been fine, so I was able to manage. Due to a combination of neglect and difficult family circumstances, I didn't have it professionally diagnosed until I was in college. At that point, the doctors confirmed that it was a permanent condition. I have been happily married for ten years and have an eight-year-old child. I have never told anyone about my lazy eye, including my wife. I have kept this a secret for my entire life. Now, at 41 years old, my good right eye is starting to weaken, and I am having trouble reading small print. My wife has noticed and is urging me to see an eye doctor. I am terrified because I know that if I go, she will find out about my left eye. I am deeply worried about her reaction. She has a personality that can be both very kind and very angry, and I am afraid she will feel that I have cheated her. The thought of losing her is unbearable, and I am also anxious about how my in-laws will react if they find out. I feel trapped and don't know how to handle this situation."

First get your child's eyes checked first, i have a similar case in my known relative and child inherited lazy eye from the father but since the age of 3, that child is wearing glasses or patches and now eyesight is much better and in-fact improving with age. I really hope that your kid is fine but these things are not to be hidden, spread awareness so others can learn and act.

Being silly for no reason. Please get your eyes checked with or without your wife. I have very poor vision and a damaged right eye. But my husband has no eye problems. He has never said anything to me about this and I too had an arranged marriage. I wore glasses from the age of 8

Lazy eye is amblyopia . It is a quite prevalent eye condition. As you were diagnosed at a later stage of your life it became more difficult to treat it. Currently you are experiencing presbyopia and get your prescription done. Amblyopia is not a taboo don't be afraid. It is like if you don't use your one hand continuously over years then it becomes less efficient. Same happened to your eyes. It was not your fault. Sometimes parents fail to notice out certain clues . That's why annual eye examinations are important. Kindly check up your eyes regularly . Also be aware for your child. Make sure your child is wearing full correction spectacles if she has refractive error.

Go and meet the doctor yourself first. Just skipping doctor visit because of your hidden truth may impact you badly. Even you can visit alone if you are so much scared, decide later when you want to share her about your eyes.

You need to tell her the truth yourself before it gets exposed

My husband has same problem since birth. He faced similar issue at 41 age. It's very normal and nothing to worry. I got to know after our marriage. He told me he is has best visibility in her other eye and that was genetic. I didn't feel anything wrong. It's fine. You should get checked and accept it and discuss with your wife. I am sure she won't feel anything abnormal. You can use specs with progressive lens. It will take time to adjust but a good option.

Dude, get the eye tested and corrected before you become blind or need an eye transplant. It's not what your partner thinks and it's more about your life.
