#C27114 M23, 4LPA Writing with a heavy heart. I work at Cognizant (~2Yrs), last March end my PM told I will be moved to a diff team, as we have overflow of resources. I asked pm if I'm underperforming in terms of deliverables, he said no nothing like that it's just a normal shifting of resources. It's May 2nd week there's no opportunity for me yet. I got no team, still tagged to last project but last 1 month I legit contributed nothing. I tried to be with them but they removed me from everywhere last week. I asked him if I'm going to benched, he said same as last time. But this week, one more female colleague (7+yr) she also getting moved, but she got it within 3 days. Now I'm trying to reach other colleagues in other projects if they have openings or not ,also last 1 month I'm applying on naukri legit 0 movement (.netcore full stack Dev). And I'm an anxious person I literally living in constant fear which I never had in my last 2-3 years. The uncertainty is killing me. I'm daily revising concepts, built another personal project just to be prepared for any interviews. Still I..I.. I cannot calm down for a moment. Any suggestions on what to expect now and amidst the layoff news of Cognizant (15K people) I'm so afraid.

This is your first time. That's the reason the anxiety is more. Don't worry, you will get a job within or outside CTS. Companies first give comfort, later it will be difficult for you to face real world issues and loosing that comfort. So understand that this is normal for software people either to be moved to bench or to be fired or to get a new job and move on. No other way. For you sad feeling nothing is going to stop. Improving your skills is the only way. Have a personal laptop and start practicing. Any place you join, use the resources for your advantage.

Continue what you are doing. Also check for internal roles though the internal job portal. Talk to HR too for project allocation.

It is a very normal process in IT. You'll get calls from other projects depending on your skillsets.

Anonymous11 June 2026 at 7:54 am

Please don't get worried about this. It seems you are a fresher .Also, Cognizant keeps on bench for freshers atleast for one year . About layoff,it is not for you all. It's for those individuals who carry higher packages with limited qualifications. So stay in the name of gaining experience. Probably, you are going to complete 1 year and be a role aligned skilled , create resumes and apply everywhere you are suitable. Perhaps, you need 2+ years experience. Till then be there and try to match your work with industry standard incase you get into a project. Otherwise chill and prepare internally

Bro, first of all, relax. What you’re going through is quite common in the IT industry, and many people face similar situations at some point in their careers. Regarding your project or job change, keep learning, continue upskilling, and keep applying for opportunities. Consistent effort eventually pays off, and the right opportunity will come your way. Try not to let anxiety take over. Worrying won’t get you a project or a new job any faster. Focus on what is within your control, stay patient, and trust the process. Things usually work out with time and persistence.

Don't be afraid bro. We have all been there. This is just a phase. Remember CTS is service based company, they will never remove you until you just outright reject all the project given you. They have special team to allocate people from bench. They spend a lot in training and hiring so they will always maintain a certain amount of free hand(bench strength ) just to show in the bidding that they can start working from day 1. Just keep learning new things and enjoy this period. You are no way near layoff.

Better study and sharpen you skills and start looking for other opportunities. Better than staying on bench and getting stale.

What's your background?

Anonymous12 June 2026 at 12:39 am

India's corporate situation is very pathetic. I did CSE but will never ever look towards IT companies. And honestly 4LPA is nothing. Just leave it bro . Even a bank clerk earns 45k that too govt job level security.
