#C27063 M39 Senior Manager with a Big4 This incident started last year. There was a Consultant level lady in a team. Average performance. Anyways she had been with the firm for around 4 years. A year back she went on maternity leave, and while on leave she texted me and one more person about her raise. She had extended her leave to 13 months and was given a default 4% raise. When she came back she started pestering us about her low raise. This year her performance has been below average with client raising availability issues. Somehow she has convinced her team lead and now 3 from the team has sent me an official mail keeping parters in CC that there has been a discrimination against a mother. The other two colleagues are male. Guess who are getting 15% and 4% this year!!

The stars and moon and galaxies and all the planets are in favour of that lady!
I would suggest closing the email positively for now and responding that the concerns will be reviewed and discussed. If performance issues genuinely exist, ensure everything is properly documented. Later, if required, put them all on PIP one by one based on objective performance metrics. If there isn’t enough documentation already, start documenting.
Halka Mon – Your Safe Space To Be Heard
If you’ve treated her fairly and have the facts, evidence, and context on your side, there’s really no reason to be stressing. What surprises me more is that a Big 4 Senior Manager who expected to handle high-pressure situations, difficult conversations, and complex people issues is seeking reassurance over something this minor. This seems well within the scope of challenges your role is designed for.
Make the clients understand her performance and her availability on work

This is a common scam in all MNCs. The majority of female employees are below average performers but manage to get decent hikes and we all know how. Still their constant cribbing about equality at work bla bla bla continues indefinitely. In my decade long career I have never seen a go to female technical expert at work, never. They just take long breaks, back bite about their in laws and go home.
Why are you whining? Would u be able to handle a career and a child together? That's the cost u bear to have the next generation of workers buddy. Unfortunately, I find your attitude as a Senior Manager quite parochial.
